Alice in Wonderland which is actually a shortened version of its full title, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, is a novel that was written by a British author named Charles Lutwidge Dodgson who had it published in 1865 under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll.
Somehow alluding to his own life and the people around him, the author tells about a young girl named Alice who fell into a rabbit’s hole and ended up in a magical world filled with strange anthropomorphic characters such as the White Rabbit, the Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the Cheshire Cat, and many others.
The timeless logic and nonsensical as well as idealistic rationale of Wonderland’s inhabitants contribute to its enduring popularity among adults and children. Alice in Wonderland has been categorized by literary experts in the fantasy as well as the literary nonsense genres and it has been dubbed as one of the best examples of both.
